On the morning of April 16, the Italian team ISAFOM-CNR and CRISP-UNINA of the European project “Benchmarks”, conducted an important multidisciplinary soil sampling campaign at the Experimental Farm of the UNINA Department of Agricultural Sciences located in Castel Volturno (Campania region, southern Italy). This campaign included biological aspects (collection of macrofauna such as earthworms, mesofauna such as ants, and analysis of microbiological content and types), physical-hydrological aspects (e.g., measurement of soil bulk density at several depths), chemical aspects (e.g., soil pH and organic matter content ), and focused also on studying possible soil microplastic pollution.
